Dacso Named Co-Editor of New Journal

Center Director Cliff Dacso is the founding co-editor of a seminal new journal from the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. The IEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine is an open access journal that bridges the engineering and clinical worlds, focusing on advanced technical solutions to clinical needs. The first issue is expected in Spring 2013.

IEEE Healthcare Innovation Conference

The first IEEE Healthcare Innovation Conference: Translational Engineering in Health & Medicine: the intersection of the lab, the clinic and the community will be held November 7-9, 2012 at the Methodist Hospital Research Institute. Center Executive Director Dr. Cliff Dacso is the Conference Chair.

Dacso Receives $1M Grant for Breast Cancer Prevention

Executive Director Dr. Clifford Dacso is Principal Investigator on an exciting new breast cancer prevention study. Together with researchers from Baylor College of Medicine, we will survey returned Peace Corps volunteers to answer the question of whether chloroquine (a malaria-prevention drug) can prevent breast cancer. The project is supported by a grant from the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program s and the survey is scheduled to begin in October 2012. Read more.
